My judicial philosophy is simple and straightforward:
- Follow the Constitution
- Follow state and federal law
- Maintain high ethical standards and impartiality
Too many judges in this country use the bench as a pulpit or as a political tool to advance particular causes or partisan policies. Not me – not ever.
This is a unique time in history – for our state and for our country. We need citizen leaders who will go to Santa Fe with a clear objective in mind: to serve the people of New Mexico with integrity and excellence. This is how I live my life every day and how I acted during the 21 years I served as a District Court judge in southern New Mexico. It’s also how I’ve served the people of our state since April as an appointed Supreme Court Justice.
If elected this November, I will do everything in my power to uphold the laws of the land fairly and equitably. I will also stay keenly focused on the founding principles of our nation – freedom, the rule of law and the separation of powers.
We live in the greatest country in the world and are privileged to call New Mexico home. But we must remain vigilant and we must never settle for second best. I will fight every day to make sure our laws are upheld and that our treasured liberties are protected long into the future so that our state and our country thrives for generations to come.
